Curriculum: modules that translate gear specs into confident selling

This curriculum is built for outdoor and tourism apparel teams working across the shop floor and e-commerce. You will learn category-level product knowledge, a consultation flow that stays calm during peak hours, and a set of templates for seasonal merchandising and product pages.

Module map (what you learn, in order)

The sequence is intentional. First you learn the product primitives (materials and construction). Then you practice a repeatable consultation. After that, you connect the same language to seasonal collection planning and e-commerce operations. The result is a shared way of speaking about performance—accurate, consistent, and easy to hand off between colleagues.

Layering Footwear fit E-commerce Inventory basics
01

Product foundations: materials, construction, and honest performance talk

Learn the vocabulary behind technical labeling: face fabric, denier, DWR behavior, membrane vs coating, seam taping coverage, zipper types, and ventilation features. You will practice converting those details into customer-friendly statements that avoid exaggeration.

The module also introduces a simple “conditions” lens (weather, pace, duration, pack weight) to explain why two products with similar specs can feel different in use.

02

Layering systems: base, mid, shell, and accessories

Build a clear layering recommendation using heat management, moisture transport, and wind/rain protection. You will learn how to explain tradeoffs (warmth vs breathability, durability vs packability) without “spec dumping.”

03

Customer consultation: prompts, confirmation questions, and summaries

Use a short workflow that fits real retail: use-case mapping, fit preference, layering plan, and a final recap that makes the recommendation easy to accept. You will practice handling partial knowledge and correcting misconceptions politely.

04

Footwear and fit: lasts, socks, terrain, and try-on checks

Learn the practical fit checks that prevent disappointment: heel hold, toe space, midfoot volume, sock thickness, and break-in expectations. We connect outsole compound and lug geometry to terrain and weather, so you can recommend purposefully rather than by aesthetics.

05

Seasonal collections: weather stories and merchandising groups

Plan how the range is presented: shoulder-season rain focus, cold snaps, travel versatility, and trail essentials. Learn how to keep signage, category pages, and staff explanations aligned during launch weeks.

06

E-commerce execution: product pages, fit notes, and returns prevention

Build product pages around scan-friendly blocks: use-case bullets, fit guidance, layering compatibility, and care notes. You will learn how to write precise comparisons without implying guarantees, and how to standardize sizing guidance to reduce ambiguity.

07

Inventory and operations: sell-through, stock cover, and size curves

Learn the operational basics that keep the assortment healthy: tracking sell-through by category, monitoring stock cover for core lines, understanding size curves, and setting simple replenishment triggers. The goal is practical control, not complex forecasting.

What you will produce while learning

The course is designed to leave you with artifacts you can reuse. Instead of a slide deck you never open again, you will build a small “training library” that supports daily work: a consultation prompt card, a module-by-module reference sheet, and a consistent product page structure. Each artifact is written to be used in a busy store and on mobile product pages.

Several exercises focus on translating performance language correctly. For example, you will practice explaining breathability with contextual qualifiers (pace, humidity, layering) and describing waterproof construction by observable features (seam tape coverage, zipper type, hood adjustment) rather than vague assurances. You will also create a footwear fit note that includes last shape, sock recommendation, and a try-on checklist that mirrors good in-store behavior.
